Flicker and then Die.
I like stars because they gave me "the illusion of permanence." Words, like stars, to guide us, offering a sense of direction. Like landmarks. Signposts. Signs. Signifiers as stars: we know they are unstable.
And, like promises, they are also unstable. Never permanent. Always to-come. Like the cursor now, blinking after every letter I type. Like the stars, always full of future because of the uncertainty of their present, because of the undecidable of their being. The stars, like words. Words like stars: now you see them, now you don't.
Words, like stars, like promises. They flicker and then die. And how we'd like to know they are still there.
