Beautiful Junk.

For more information on the list of bands performing and the list of art contributors, do visit their official website.

Due to the concern of unforseen weather on the day of the event, the organizer has changed the venue to Dewan Sri Pinang instead of Esplanade. Oh, just in case you're wondering about the ticket price and all. Only for the price of RM18 and you get to check out 18 bands from all over Malaysia.

Not to mention that there will be an art exhibition showcasing motion graphics, installations / interactives and print graphics / posters from contributors all over asian countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Phillipines, Japan. Oh, there are some from United States, France, Mexico and Australia too.

Cool eh? I'd say worth it, since it's going to be an all day event. Just check out the time!

It's going to be a blast!

Music Baton.

HURRAH! Someone passed me the music baton! *smug* Thanks to Lynn who appeared in a local mag recently! :P

Total volume of music files on my computer:
My previous hard disk is out of order in the mean time. So now is a total of 5.60GB of mp3s.

The last CD I bought:
Erm, pirated was by Garbage – Bleed Like Me and as for original CD by Seven Collar T-Shirt - Drones. Haha, that was *way* long time ago when I purchased it during Rock The World IV.

Song playing right now:
Bebel Gilberto - Samba de Benaco [such a nice song to listen to when it’s raining outside and to calm you down. Oh, a good song to make out to as well. ;)]

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
(1) Jeff Buckley – Last Goodbye. [every listen to it reminds me that the past is real and living is easy with your eyes closed while listening to this meaningful song.]

(2) F.I.R. – Fly Away [my feel good song and the lyrics are just great to get you in the mood. The type of motivation I need when I’m loosing grip on life.]

(3) Faye Wong - Thousand Words [qian yen wan yu originally by Teresa Teng. Faye Wong did a live version of it and recently, it became quite a special song to remind me of my dad.]

(4) Our Lady Peace – Life [just check out the lyrics and I’m sure most of you can relate yourself with it.]

(5) Damien Rice – The Blower’s Daughter [the first time I heard it while watching Closer, I was like, man this song rocks baboon’s ass! Awesome awesome shit. I was going gaga over the opening song than the whole movie actually. hehe. *thumbs up*]

Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:
Jack

Sze Ning
Justine
Nigel
SD

Bye for now. Going for class. Toodles. :)

Radiohead - Subterranian Homesick Alien

The breath of the morning,
I keep forgetting
The smell of the warm summer air.
I live in a town
Where you can’t smell a thing,
You watch your feet
For cracks in the pavement.

Up above, aliens hover
Making home movies for the folk back home.
Of all these weird creatures who lock up their spirits,
Drill holes in themselves and live for their secrets.

They’re all...
Uptight.

I wish that they’d swoop down, in a country lane,
Late at night when I’m driving.
Take me onboard their beautiful ship,
Show me the world as I’d love to see it.
I’d tell all my friends but they’d never believe me
They’d think that I’d finally lost it completely.
I’d show them the stars, and the meaning of life.
They’d shut me away, but I’d be alright.
Alright.

I’m just...
Uptight!

Pictures : Experimental Movement Gig 05

Okay, here are some pictures before I go for my long weekend. Fun times, YAY! Have a great great weekend people.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Bear in mind that I didnt manage to take pictures of all the bands because I was juggling with two digicams and both belongs to someone else. Not to mention that sending huge files to me is a hassle but nevertheless, I did manage to get my hands on some cool pictures.

As capacity is an issue and me being crazy keep snapping pictures whenever I can, I didnt manage to take pictures of some of the bands. But all these pictures that Im gonna put up are amazing, I sure hope it would make up for it. I hope you enjoy these pics as much as I do.

So here they are anyway.

Problem solved.

NAO. Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Nao from KL. This is the vocalist/lead guitarist. At first, the vocal sounded abit funny with its pitch but come to think about it, it's special yet edgy.

NAO. Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Nao as a whole. Bloody energetic and enthusiastic in bringing message(s) in each of the songs.

THE CROWD. Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The crowd staying till the end of the gig. Which is cool I think. Unlike other times.

Overall, it was a nice gig. When I walked into the venue, I was like what? Cannot smoke inside, no place to stand. Note, moshers can't mosh lah. Heh, I'm not really worried about the former but the latter. You know, people would be nicely sitting down and when you stand up and go up to the stage up close to take pictures, awkwardness arise.

Despite the venue is quite different from greenhall, people still stick around till the end of it. No moshing, just lay your asses down and listen. Pretty laid back I'd say. Can see alot of music enthusiasts around as well as those people who really appreciates music.

My personal opinion would be that there would be more of these organizers as well as musicians to come together to make gig(s) like this happen. The music scene in Pg has been a lil dry lately as the island had run out of venue since the last hot-and-happening greenhall. I'd say Pg needs to revive its scene. Musicians? We have a lot but what will happen to them if there is no way for them to gain experience as well as exposure to the public? I'm sure there are people out there who are into gigs and all but nowadays gigs and events are becoming lesser and lesser by the days.

Kat.

While I was busy teasing an Indian friend that I managed to gulp down the same bowl of tom yam soup in the afternoon and being the Indian that he is, he should be able to finish up that bowl of tom yam soup no problem.

I was teasing him that when he was wiping sweats off his forehead and at the same time fanning himself. Hah. He said I cannot since I’m a Chinese. I told him, “Fine, since you said you can, prove it lah, but the fun part will be seeing you struggling with the remaining half with the tears in your eyes and the sweat on your forehead.”

Later, he asked me whether I have tissue or not. You should see his face as he gave up in finishing the remaining half. Funny.

Then this fluffy creature caught my attention. So I asked my friend to borrow me her phone and I went up to this cat and took pictures of it.

Yes, pictures!!

I can’t stop staring at it and saying the word cute to my friends and I bet they got annoyed by it. It reminds me of a friend’s cat in Melbourne called Snowflake.

snowflake lookalike.

oi, what you want?

On Reflection

Are these times contagious
I've never been this bored before
Is this the prize I've waited for
Now as the hours passing
There's nothing left here to insure
I long to find a messenger

Have I got a long way to run
Yeah, I run

Is there a cure among us
From this processed sanity
I weaken with each voice that sings
In this world of purchase
I'm going to buy back memories
To
awaken some old qualities

Have I got a long way to run
Yeah, I run

~Run by Collective Soul

As I was coming back from subang jaya, sitting in the train bustling my way through the city while listening to my ipod, this song was randomly played and if I may say so, it rocks! so I took out a small notebook that I usually carry around and of course a pen, I started writing down my train of thoughts.

This guy came around and sat next to me, his leg/thigh touched mine and I was fine by that since there were nowhere else to sit, until he started shaking his leg. argh. I moved or rather shuffled my position abit to show my slight annoyance and yay, he stopped shaking his leg. Heh.

The more I wrote, the more wary I became. This another guy sitting next to me might be reading the shit that Im writing down. Anyways I just continued and after awhile, I turned to another and then another page to write down my thoughts, just minding my own business. I was absorbed into another dimension. A world of my own. I like the feeling.

I felt calm and slightly taller than the rest of them. I noticed some people around me. Three guys dressed in black, jeans, studded belts, chains, converse sneaker and badly inked job. Obviously metalheads. Matrockers. Indian dude sitting opposite of me, wearing slippers so it really shows off how cracked his feet are and those chipped and dirty nails. The back of his palms were inked too. A scorpion and butterfly on each side. A playboy lookalike bunny on his neck. Badly done as well.

I dont feel the same as Im sitting on th train that's heading to the same destination. But I could sense some sort of uncertainty. Heavy hearted and sadness filled my mind but at the same time it feels good to make your own decisions. A sense of control over my own life. Sitting on the train, bustling through the city as well as the lush green field of greenery. Serenity?

More good things to come? But one thing's for sure, I'd have to face the future on my own. The freshness of the air makes me feel alive in this gloomy morning.

Attending the anniversary dinner was cool. There were probably about 1,000 people there. All over, North, South, East, West. I got to see those uncles that I used to see when dad took me to functions. familiar faces. I used to wear those kiki-lala that my mom had picked out for me to wear. Now I parade myself in a flairy skirt, a sleeveless blouse and a beaded shawl accessorised with shiny silver jewellry while sitting up and sipping my glass of beer. You would probably see me in this kind of outfit in 5 years time. But damn, what happened to me?

Most of the uncles didnt recognize me. They were all smiles when they see me and I sure did flash them my beaming smile and glossy lips to them as their eye candy. After much beer intake, some of them started joking around and then our table of uncles and aunties started a competition of using the plastic chopsticks to pick up the button mushrooms coated with starchy sauce.

The next day, clad in my faded black tshirt, oversized jeans, a backpack and messenger bag, I was invisible. I wish I can find a way to show my charming side. To be consistent.

The transition scares me at times. One moment I was in a crowded and noisy place and the next Im in a quiet place. Then I have the limelight and now I dont. One minute Im miss yummyliciously young lass and the next Im miss sloppy excess baggage carrier.

I feel dizzy. Time for a nap.

Kitten.

When I came back to college yesterday, lugging my backpack and a hand-carry, I saw the guard went into the drain and picked up a soaked and bleeding kitten. The mother cat was just following every movements and keep meow-ing away, much like pleading and asking for help. I asked the guard what happened to the little fellow and she told me that someone had kicked the kitten into the drain.

Poor thing. Why would someone do that to a helpless and defenseless kitten?

When I went to class in the morning, I see those kittens taking an afternoon nap. All 4 of them packed like sardines in a light blue adidas shoe box, each breathing in a different rhythm. How cute.

By the time I came back from class, I see the mother cat lying sideways with all 4 of the kittens sucking the mother cat dry. Mother cat milking the kittens lah. Erm, okay, that sounded kinda obscene but you know what I mean. Heh.

While I was taking my late afternoon nap, a friend woke me up and asked me to go for dinner. As I came down the stairs still stoning in dreamland, I saw the kittens running around and playing with themselves with silly objects like flying plastic bag. Hmm, reminds me of American Beauty there. Anyway, instantly my heart melted. They’re such cute creatures lah, how could those girls have the heart to kick the poor kitten until it was bleeding? There were traces of blood on the ground as well. Brutal.

Even though I would prefer dog over cat but am just an animal lover. My point is, why would they want to kick the kitten till it bleeds? Down the drain some more leh!

Tripping.

Booya to fellow readers! Despite the lack of update for almost a month, yours truly is back.

I was previously having holidays. I was back at home chilling big time. No time for internet and no facility as well. I have just recently terminated my streamyx. Damn, still cant believe I killed it. Oh well, poor people have to live the poor people's way eh?

Back home, mad mad drivers off the leash, almost got myself into some accidents. You stupid altis driver! Stuffed my belly with more food. Went on a shopping spree and realized that I’m better off shopping alone. Down side is probably the amount that I’d spend on a particular item.

Did a crazy thing of going back to college to obtain my results, register and check in to my hostel and the next day took a 4 hour bus and went back home. Initially wanted to have a quiet weekend and just stay in my room to stay safe from all things buzzing in the air. But a dear friend came back for me all the way from UK so I had to stay for the weekend.

I wonder why it didn’t turn out to be better. Could it be because I let myself in this situation? I didn’t have any expectation of any sorts, really, I didn’t. but consequences calls, I had to let myself be vulnerable to this outcome.

On the bright side, I had a rather chilling time, heavy hot and spicy dinner at this thai restaurant. Went around driving aimlessly and spent enormous time packing my emotional baggage. Had a triple chocolate action ice cream. It was all good though. Heh.

Oh well, experiencing bus lag right now. Bed time. Will update soon. Byes.
